Hội An, Vietnam Mr. Chinh then took me to "bronze town" where many shops sold bronzeware which had been made from spent munitions from the American Vietnam War. This large vase still has the artillery information stamped in its base. He said they still find them in their rice fields even today. When asked if the Vietnamese people held any animosity towards Americans because of the war, Mr. Chinh cheerfully explained that the American War was just one of many in which they fought for their freedom. First it was the Chinese, then it was the French, then it was the Americans, then it was the Cambodian Khmer Rouge. The Americans were only one in a long line of those who tried to conquer Vietnam.
